Mannkostamenntun er vaxandi menntastefna sem meðal annars OECD hefur tekið upp. Sú menntastefna setur ekki aðeins markið á að öðlast þekkingu heldur einnig að þroska ábyrga manngerð nemenda. On May 4th, Flourishing was formally admitted to Humanist International (HI) and now joins a global family of more than 120 humanist organisations in over 60 countries worldwide.

The purpose of the competition is to encourage young people to engage in careful ethical reflection and writing on contemporary issues, while also giving them the opportunity to receive recognition and have their work published.

Vilhjálmur Árnason, Professor Emeritus, is patron of the competition.

The submission deadline is Sunday, 10 May, and the awards ceremony will take place on Friday, 29 May at 3:50 pm at Saga.

Yesterday, 15 March 2026, Flourishing held its first general meeting since its founding meeting on 23 March 2025.

The principal milestones in the building of the association were reviewed, and this development has progressed rapidly, as both the leadership and the group of officiants consist of an outstanding team with extensive knowledge and experience.

The admission process to Humanists International is proceeding well, and the association’s application for official registration with the state is currently under committee consideration.

There was a poetry reading and singing, but the central focus of the general meeting was the presentation of honorary recognitions and the expression of gratitude to three humanists for their significant contributions to the cause of humanism in Iceland.
