Weddings
Weddings take many forms, and at Flourishing we offer a humanist ceremony in the spirit of the values of love and joy that accompany the exchange of vows. Our ceremony leaders advise on the setting and arrangements so that the ceremony is as successful as possible and in accordance with the wishes and expectations of the couple.
Please note: Until the association receives formal registration from the authorities, wedding ceremonies conducted by the association do not constitute legally binding marriages.
Flourishing offers, in broad terms, two types of wedding ceremonies—a shorter ceremony and a more extensive ceremony.
The shorter ceremony includes a brief preparatory meeting, a short reflection, and the ceremony itself.
The more extensive ceremony includes a preparatory meeting, a rehearsal, a presentation of the couple’s story, a more developed reflection, and the ceremony itself. Such ceremonies may sometimes include additional elements such as musical performances or additional speeches.
Wedding Fees
A) Short Ceremony: ISK 40,000
Includes a preparatory meeting and the ceremony itself, which consists of introductory remarks and the exchange of vows.
The ceremony typically lasts 10–15 minutes.
B) More Extensive Ceremony: ISK 80,000
Includes a more detailed preparatory meeting, rehearsal/planning, remarks about the couple, introductory words, and the ceremony itself.
The ceremony length varies, often 20–40 minutes, depending on additional elements such as musical performances.
Members of Flourishing receive a 10% discount on the total fee.
Additional charges may apply for travel if the ceremony takes place outside the ceremony leader’s home region (approximately a 20 km radius) or if waiting time exceeding one hour occurs at the ceremony location. If the ceremony takes place on a public holiday or at night, a surcharge may apply.
