Funerals

Humanist Funerals

Humanist funerals are based on shared human values without the involvement of religion. The association’s ceremony leader reviews the elements and texts of the ceremony with the family and advises on how the chosen elements may be carried out. Words of remembrance are prepared, and the ceremony leader offers a brief reflection. Music adds a beautiful tone to funerals. Sometimes there is room for humor or joy in recalling good memories. Funerals are not only about strengthening the bereaved in their grief, but also about honoring the life of the deceased and the many facets of that person’s life.

Fees for Funerals

Memorial ceremony (funeral) and coffin placement at an adjacent time
(within 2 hours of the memorial ceremony and on the same side of noon): ISK 80,000

(more than 2 hours apart, on the other side of noon, or on another day): additional ISK 20,000

Members of Flourishing receive a 10% discount on the total fee.

The fee includes a preparatory meeting, guidance on planning, and conducting the ceremony.
